Gavin 1 month

Well hello! Sorry for being MIA, but being a mommy is kind of exhausting and I'd much rather be snuggling my little man instead of writing!

Gavin had his two week checkup after my last post, on September 17th. His jaundice was no longer a concern {yay!} and his cord stump had already fallen off. They weighed him at 9lbs 3oz, meaning he gained 1lb and 1.5 oz in a week, go Gavin! Other than that, perfectly healthy.

Matt went back to work on September 23rd, which was a tough day. I'm starting to get the hang of things on my own now, but G and I miss daddy lots!

These past few weeks we've continued to have lots of visitors. It's definitely tricky to time feedings around visitors, especially because Gavin had been cluster feeding last week (I believe because of a growth spurt). He loves meeting his new friends and family, though!

He is doing so well with tummy time. His neck is so strong already and he is lifting his head with very little effort!

He loves to smile! He's started to find his voice and loves cooing at us.

I got my breast pump 2 weeks ago and started using it right away. I had to wait to order it until after he was born, as that was my insurance company's policy. He's doing great with bottles (after some practice) and we usually give him 1 a day with about 3.5 oz in it.

Most of the time, he loves sleeping in his car seat and enjoying the vibration of the car ride! He's also been on a few walks and likes to sleep right through those too! :)

Ashley came to visit last weekend to meet Gavin and go to a wedding with us. The two of us went to lunch one afternoon and sat outside - Gavin was great and slept the whole time! We also had a great time at the wedding thanks to my mom - she babysat Gavin so we could enjoy ourselves. I would be lying if I didn't say I thought about Gavin every 5 minutes...

I took my first solo outing with Gavin to Babies R Us on Monday and it was a success! He, yet again, slept the whole time! He's such a good baby :) He's also taken trips to Costco and Easton and was great both times.

I do have to admit he has his fussy periods, mostly in the evenings. He calms down eventually after some rocking and trying different positions and feeding, etc. He usually takes about 15-20 minutes to go down to sleep (which is usually around 10pm) and will sleep until about 2 (yay!). I feed him and then he will sleep again til 5 or 6 and I can usually feed him and sleep again another 2 hours, but sometimes he is up for good at that point. I nap during his morning nap and after that I'm feeling pretty refreshed. I always time my shower around his second morning nap and set him in the Rock N Play in the bathroom while I take what is possibly the fastest shower ever, haha! I take my long showers on the weekends when Matt is home. :)

Speaking of the Rock N Play, I couldn't live without that thing! It's great to have next to our bed at night and to be able to rock him to sleep. I also couldn't live without his Fisher Price swing (lets us eat dinner together) and Baby Bjorn. He loves being attached to me and I wouldn't be able to accomplish anything when I'm home alone without it!

We are putting him in his crib once a day to nap to introduce it slowly. So far it's going okay. Baby steps :)

I weighed him today, his one month birthday, at 10 lbs 15 oz. He also slept a 5 hour stretch last night which was marvelous! Maybe that will continue? :)
